Notification Digest for Jira — Privacy Policy

The short version
Notification Digest is private by design. It runs entirely on Atlassian's Forge
platform, and your data never leaves Atlassian's infrastructure. There is no external
server, no third-party service, and no tracking.
What data the app accesses
To build your digest, the app reads — within your Jira Cloud site only:
- Issues you are assigned to, reported, or watch, and their recent changes
(status, assignee, comments) since your last digest;
- Basic user information (your Atlassian account ID and display name) needed to
address the digest to the right person;
- Your own digest preferences (frequency, enabled events, projects) that you set in the app.
The app requests these scopes: read:jira-work, read:jira-user,
write:jira-work (used only to send the digest through Jira's own notification
system), storage:app (for your preferences) and read:permission:jira
(read-only, used solely to confirm you may still view an issue before it enters your
digest).
Where data is stored and processed
- All processing happens inside Atlassian Forge. The app has no external server and
makes no calls to any third-party service.
- Preferences are stored in Forge Storage, hosted by Atlassian within your
installation. They are not copied anywhere else.
- No data egress. The app does not transmit any issue data, personal data, or usage
data outside the Atlassian platform. This is a technical property of how the app is built (no external
fetch permission), which is why it qualifies for the Runs on Atlassian badge.
- Data residency follows your Atlassian site's configuration.
How email is sent
Digest emails are sent using Jira's own notification system (issue/{id}/notify). We do not
use SendGrid, Mailgun, or any external email provider. Your email content is generated and delivered
inside Atlassian.
What the app does not do
- It does not sell, share, or transfer your data to anyone.
- It does not use analytics or tracking that sends data off-platform.
- It does not retain your issue content — digests are generated on the fly and only minimal
preferences are stored.
Data retention and deletion
- Preferences persist only while the app is installed.
- Uninstalling the app removes the app's stored data for that installation.
